Are you aware that trees are constantly being demolished everywhere you go? Have you ever wondered why we recycle? There’s a big issue as to why we cut down trees as constantly as we do, it’s ruining our vegetation and causing more natural disasters. Our crucial question is “ Should trees be cut down as often as they are?”
Firstly, let’s speak about why we cut down trees. We know we need it for paper product materials. Such as calendars, paper, books, toilet paper, etc. But is it necessary to use all these materials as often as we do? 46% of trees are cut down every year for products that we need as stated on the Mongabay series : Global Forests. They said that “The study estimated current and historical rates of tree cover loss. It said that the number of trees worldwide has fallen 46 percent since the dawn of agriculture 12,000 years ago.” This evidence shows that 46% of trees have been cut down after 12,000 years. Another issue caused by cutting down trees are natural disasters. Floods form from the lack of having trees in the forests. Trees prevent sedimentary runoffs and soil from becoming fragile. In Northwest: About Nature, they mention how trees help soil stay in place. “ Without trees, rain runs off soil and into rivers and streams, raising the water level. Trees help keep soil in place, and their roots soak up water. (This is called reducing erosion and anchoring topsoil.)” This explains why floods happen without trees and causes natural disasters.
So what can we do to prevent it? What can we do to prevent tress from dying? Firstly, I asked other people if they believe trees should be cut down. Jasper said “It depends what the wood is really being used for” While Willam says “If we were focusing on saving mother nature no but for the sake of human survival, we put ourselves in a situation
where we were dependent on trees.” So, what can we do to help prevent trees from dying and We can start by doing everything online. It reduces transport and doesn’t release decaying chemicals into the air. As it says in Sustainable Business ToolKit, they explain different ways as to how online work and school benefits the environment. “ Reduces Pollution and Emissions from Transportation, Reduces Energy Consumption, Saves Natural Resources Such as Water, Reduces Food Waste.” This evidence shows how online school benefits the environment. So now that we know how much online school can help benefit the environment, let’s figure out how we can help prevent trees from dying. On The world counts, they give us 8 ways on how to help prevent deforestation. “Plant a Tree where you can.
Go paperless at home and in the office. Buy recycled products and then recycle them again. Buy certified wood products. Read the labels and look for the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) mark. Support the products of companies that are committed to reducing deforestation. It’s all about business. If you don’t buy, they will be encouraged to
improve their practices. Raise awareness in your circle and in your community. Buy only what you will use. Don’t use Palm Oil or products with Palm Oil.” This evidence shows how we can help prevent trees from dying and how we can help save the environment.
In conclusion, we need to work together to help protect our environment and stop harming it like the way that we are. If we keep it up like this, there won’t be much of oxygen for us. However if we heal the environment good things will come for us all.
