Recently at Indian trails middle there has been a dismissal bell change where walkers and bikers leave at [3]:50 and bus and car riders leave at [3]:55 is this unfair? Before this was a
dismissal process all the kids would get let out at once creating a large crowd of students in the school courtyard usually getting their last bit of horseplay out before going home. This was a very stressful situation for teachers and admin who had to advise the area at the end of the day.
How do students view the new dismissal? Student at ITMS says ” the new bell schedule is horrible because teachers are confused about it and people mess around in the courtyard“ this shows that some students are all for the new dismissal for multiple different reasons. On the other hand kiki noir says “we get more time to go home instead of being in a rush or wasting time. ``For a majority of reasons this could be accurate considering that bus riders want to go home so being kept in a classroom while all their friends leave isn't fair. Another thing to think about is that many students don't even follow this new rule and just see it as an opportunity to roam around the school before having to go home.
Let's look at how teachers view the new bell dismissal. ITMS teacher Mrs. Bennett stated that “the new dismissal process is very messy and it all just needs to be fixed again and overall just be reorganized to make it easier”. Teachers play a huge part in students' behavior so considering what they said, it should definitely mean something. Maybe changing the bell system will improve behavior or maybe it won't but if it's making it more difficult for the teachers to do their jobs then it should probably just be removed over all.
In the end; after talking about teachers' points of view, the students' opinions, and the effect it has on behavior.
