Recently at ITMS the mega blast took place. Students from all grade levels took
time out of class to go to the event. Mega blast is a fundraiser where students pay
money to go to a fun event and can pay extra money to get extra prizes. So how do
students and teachers feel about the Mega blast event?
First off, how do students feel about the mega blast fundraiser? I interviewed a
sixth grader named Levi Cleveland and this is how he felt about it. I asked him if you felt like it was a good activity and why. As a response he said it was very fun and a
good physical activity and they didn’t just sit in a classroom. Some of the reasons he
probably liked it was because of some prizes like inflatable shoes, snow cones, or one of the other many prizes. I also wondered if it was worth the money. He said it was
definitely worth the money and that he had a blast at the event. I also interviewed Aiden
Lugo from seventh grade. He didn’t go to the event but said he wished that he could’ve
gone with all of his friends. One of the reasons he could’ve wanted to go could be
because of the inflatables. However he also said that the event was way over priced for
about 90 minutes of fun. It was 50 dollars just to go to the event. He said you could just
have all that fun at your own house.
Secondly lets see how a teacher feels about the mega blast. When it comes to
teachers though, there are different questions. Such as do you think it is good for
students, how does it affect class time, etc. I interviewed my history teachers with some
of these questions. I first asked if she thought that she was in favor of the mega blast.
She told me she was and said that her kid actually went to the mega blast. I also wanted to know how it affected class time. She said it didn’t affect class time that much for her. If she was a reading or math teacher however she might have different thoughts. Because they typically have more work to get done. For my last question I wanted to know if she would as a kid. She said that if her parents let her go she would want to go.
There are many reasons why the mega blast is fun and maybe not so much. So
